How to get factory key code with Xhorse Dolphin XP005L?
A customer reported that using the Xhorse Dolphin XP005L key machine to decode it can get the key’s bite code, but they don’t know how to get the key’s actual factory code after decoding the machine. This issue is now resolved. If you encounter the same problem, please follow the solutions below.
solution:
I do this with every car key I duplicate…I never use generic duplicates.
I want to apologize because I’m using the phone app on the original Dolphin and that’s how it tells me the code.
First, you look up the vehicle under “Vehicle Database”. You put the client’s key in the vise, click “Decode Key”, and you get the cut. Next, you’ll click “Find Bitting”.
I think this is where most people get it wrong. This will give you the factory key code.
I’ve only had issues with some GM’s because the code families would span years, and it might be looking up the wrong code family for some odd reason.
Hyundaid/Kia are wrong in some cases, at that point I’d look up the code cuts in g-code online or something like that.
I think it might be an American problem.
I’ve filled out code cards myself for many clients and it helps them repeat or not in the future.
